For the past 4 years, Dr. Dan Adams has served us on the Evansville City Council. Thankfully, he's asking us to let him do it again.
Dr. Adams, like the other 5 Save Roberts Stadium candidates, is vital in our efforts to pull this project off. But what makes Dr. Adams so special to both the Save Roberts Stadium movement as well as the fight to turn Evansville around is both his independence as well as his commitment to explore innovation.
For too many years, we've sat back and watched either one or two parties at most dictate Evansville's future. And as the years have progressed, the parties have become more organized and more centralized with their beliefs. In turn, only a few people really have the power to do anything on any community project, and most often, these few people only chase the projects that give them power, money, and/or fame.
One of my biggest hopes for Evansville is that there will come a day in the future when Evansville elects its first Independent mayor. Thanks to leaders like Dr. Adams and Rick Davis, we're getting very close to this goal. They've been instrumental in punching holes in the monopoly held by the Vanderburgh County Democrat Central Committee and the Vanderburgh County Republican Central Committee.
I'm very thankful that Dr. Adams takes his independence from the Democrat Central Committee very seriously. We owe Dr. Adams a very big thank you for keeping an open mind on Roberts Stadium. If Dr. Adams didn't value his independence, he wouldn't have had the ability to see the truth about Roberts Stadium.
While we've seen the 2nd Ward candidate put forth by the democrats not know the difference between a stadium and an arena, Dr. Adams knows that there's an overwhelming amount of realistic potential in this legendary facility. He refuses to be jaded by the political insiders who wish every single day of their life that he would just shut up about Roberts Stadium, its potential, and the basic fact that the vast majority of Evansville residents want Roberts Stadium to stick around. Wouldn't it be nice if we had all 9 members of the Evansville City Council think this way?
Not only does Dr. Adams refuse to sacrifice his independence to the political insiders, he also refuses to stand on the sidelines when problems arise in the River City.
I'm very lucky to have had the opportunity to have talked with Dr. Adams many times over during the primary and general elections. I'm impressed, amazed, and excited about all of the solutions Dr. Adams has investigated to solve some of Evansville's glaring deficiencies.
Dr. Adams refuses to let Evansville's trash problem get out of hand, he has investigated a "Cash for Trash program. Dr. Adams refuses to let unemployment get out of hand, he is working to make the slack water port in the Howell Rail Yards a reality. Dr. Adams also refuses to let our Downtown waterfront and entertainment district continue to lay in ruins, he has investigated what can be done to bring both back to life from the museum all the way down to the Port of Evansville. Lastly and most importantly for our cause, Dr. Adams refuses to let Roberts Stadium be demolished due to lack of political will, he has investigated all of the leads we have rounded up for the nostalgic venue.
One of the main reasons that I have chosen to be an activist/community organizer and not a politician is my desire to remain independent from both conservatives and liberals as well as produce results that politicians simply cannot. I'm confident that we have both of those values in Dr. Adams as well.
It's not easy to keep your ability to think for yourself when you're on the Evansville City Council. We've seen politician after politician refuse to do anything that would go against the will of those moving the strings on the puppets. Dr. Adams is the only current Evansville City Councilman that I can think of who truly cares about the city of Evansville and not about what will get him a job promotion, what will increase the money in his wallet, and what will keep the political insiders off of his back.
For 50 + years, our city has fallen into ruin. It is now a dying city. We don't need another politician to turn this town around, we need a doctor...
That doctor is Dr. Adams, and you better believe that he will make sure Roberts Stadium stays healthy and doesn't make an early appearance in the grave. LET'S RE-ELECT DR. DAN ADAMS TO THE EVANSVILLE CITY COUNCIL!
