As the sole owner of UNITY TAXI LLC, Southwest Indiana's largest taxi and Medicaid transportation service, Bill Kramer has made a living delivering for his customers and to his customers. Now, Mr. Kramer, who is running for the Evansville City Council At-Large spot, is ready to come through in the clutch for what will surely be his biggest delivery yet- 55 year old Roberts Stadium.
I am proud to announce that Mr. Bill Kramer has become our 6th candidate to boldly step up to the plate and take the pledge to give a good faith effort to save Roberts Stadium. If you look at Mr. Kramer's website, you will see the following statement in regards to Roberts Stadium...
http://www.kramerforcouncil.com/about.html
ROBERTS STADIUM - "Like most of us, I would like to
be able to save Robert's Stadium and I will continue to listen to ideas and
examine opportunities to see if something makes sense financially, and for the
betterment of our community without putting any strains on Wesselman Woods."
What I like best about Mr. Kramer is his willingness to make Roberts Stadium a priority. In an email sent to me a few days ago, Mr. Kramer said the following...
I believe we CAN save the stadium and the plan that I have been working with is to utilize the back portion of that lot to put in more GREEN SPACE for Wesselman Woods. Saving our stadium and preserving Wesselmans is on the top of my agenda and was on my agenda BEFORE I signed up to run for this office!
Some candidates didn't have this on their list until they found out they can get more votes if they say they are for saving the Roberts. I'm a little concerned about what those votes will get us. For me it's not about votes, it's not about publicity, it's about what is doing what is best for our community!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think I could have put into words the Save Roberts Stadium movement any better that what Mr. Kramer did in that email. Mr. Kramer is spot on, this movement isn't about making money, gathering media attention, or enhancing your resume. Rather, this is about doing what is right, and what is right is fighting for our 55 year old icon that has served our town well and will continue to serve our town well even after we've all passed away.
The first time I met Mr. Kramer was at a Meet-N-Greet event he was co-hosting with Mr. Lon Walters from the 2nd Ward (read the posts below this to see why you should vote Lon Walters). Aside from the fact that anyone who hangs out, works with, or supports Lon Walters is always a class act, a hard worker, and a great all-around person, I especially appreciated Mr. Kramer putting this event on so that regular ole Joe's like myself could put our ideas and visions in front of him.
At the Meet-N-Greet, I brought every document under the sun explaining...
1. What we need to do with Roberts Stadium
2. What we need to do with the land surrounding Roberts Stadium
3. Where we need to build the ball fields
4. What we can do to connect both projects, the arena, and the rest of Evansville together
For those readers who follow this blog on a regular basis, you know that this plan can be quite confusing and/or time consuming to figure out as it involves A LOT of moving parts (which is a good thing because it will benefit a lot of groups in Evansville). Mr. Kramer could have been like a lot of the other politicians who are already in office and don't have to listen to voters, he could have gave a friendly, but phony, smile and brushed it all off as a joke. You would be amazed at how many current city leaders have done that to me when I have tried to run them through the plans and the options.
But Bill Kramer isn't your ordinary ego-driven, yes man candidate. He truly means it when he says he will listen to the people. At his Meet-N-Greet, he sat down with me and went piece-by-piece, project-by-project, and detail-by-detail of every single thing I wanted to discuss with him. Not only did he do that, he also displayed a wide array of knowledge about the ideas, and he has fully committed himself to investigating all of these ideas since that day. How many current city leaders do you think would both listen to your ideas as well as investigate them for implementation?
Too many times, we have elected officials who have grandstanded to residents of Evansville during the days leading up to the election before changing course after Election Day and brushing off any idea presented to them. I don't know about you, but I find it to be nothing short of frustrating dealing with these kind of government officials. Why bother if they have already made up their mind that they are going to go with an inferior plan?
I am truly excited about our opportunity to put someone like Bill Kramer on the Evansville City Council, and I hope you are as well. If we elect both Dr. Dan Adams and Bill Kramer to the Evansville City Council At-Large positions, we will be making history as we will have by far and away the most effective, progressive, and down-to-earth council in Evansville's rich history. This will be our one and only chance to put someone on the council who will stop at nothing to put together a plan for Roberts Stadium, evaluate all locations for projects (not just ones that benefit the ECVB), and make himself available to local residents who want to make a difference.
If you have any desire to see Evansville take the next step towards progress, you've got to vote Bill Kramer. If you have any desire to place government leaders in our government that truly give a damn about our city, you've got to vote for Bill Kramer.
Lastly, if you have any desire to save Roberts Stadium, YOU'VE GOT TO VOTE BILL KRAMER!
