These past few weeks, the Evansville Rage, our new indoor football team, have been busy getting things together for their 2012 debut.
For those that don't know, the Rage have expressed an overwhelming amount of interest in calling Roberts Stadium home for the 2013 season. Indeed, moving the Rage into Roberts Stadium makes perfect sense. Why?
1. There aren't enough dates in the Ford Center for the Rage who start their season the first week of March which is prime time for the Aces.
2. The economies of scale at Roberts Stadium are correct for the Rage. When the Bluecats used Roberts Stadium, they payed $10,000 a game and received no concession stand revenue. By raising the floor and downsizing Roberts Stadium to a mid-sized arena, we will be able to draw up a lease that's fair for both sides.
3. There is plenty of room outside of Roberts Stadium for tailgating.
In the meantime, the Rage will call the Metro Center home for the 2012 season. This gives them a year to get everything aligned for the big move into Roberts Stadium, and this gives us a year to finish up all political battles and complete the renovations to Roberts Stadium such as raising the floor.
What have the Rage been doing to get the 2012 season going?
